New Top of the range HiFi stand

January 19th, 2012

Between all the other work, there is some progress on LeOne. Corners rounded and first oil coats applied.

I am working on the development of a unique high end HiFi stand.

There will be quite a few exclusives (never seen before features) in the stand name LeOne.

LeOne will be one of a handful stands that use solid wood in its shelf construction. The end thickness will be approximately 45mm making it a substantial solid slab of wood.

Progress will be posted.

Got the Kiaat and Maple during the week.

Wood planed and cut for the shelves.

And then the glue-up starts.

It must be mentioned that even though the following pictures of the glue-up looks quite standard, quite a bit of work is done that is not seen.

Channels are machined in the wood that is filled with a viscoelastic damping compound and some leadshot. These fillings are used to reduce vibration within the shelf.

All the glue-ups done, rough sanded and cut to size.
